Heya guys! Hope you're all well and excited for the new Panic concerts and gigs! I know this is a little late for a "concert review" (from my point of view) from when Panic were in Sweden (played in Tyrol in Stockholm) on february 26th - but you see I wrote a review (what should I call it?) the day after the concert but accitentally deleted all of it so I gave up lol - but I'm gonna try again now : )
It was the absolute most fantastic energy among all the fans (well, except some people who were mocking foreigners) that day. The "show" started out with two bands playing before Panic - the first one was Kid Down, not really my kind of music, but for you who like Simple Plan or Green Day, I strongly recommend them. The second band was Black Gold, which I really liked. If you like the sound to Bright Eye's "Lover I Don't Have To Love" then I strongly recommend them.
Anyways,
Panic were in a great mood that evening and played some new and old songs for us. You could tell that Brendon had become more technical with his voice, and it sounded amazing. They were energetic and performed suberb-ingly. I liked that they mixed new and old songs, since I didn't have the chance to see them when they were touring with A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, but I really wish they would've played more than like 5 new ones - even though those we heard were great. It's really obvious they're inspired by The Beatles, but also Bob Dylan and Beach Boys, and I love it. The lyrics are, once again, tricky, but that's what we love, right? They've done an amazing job with them and the sound of course, I don't know why, but I kinda get the "Alice In Wonderland" feeling when I listen to them. I've been analyzing the lyrics ever since I heard and read them and I have my theories what they could mean, but it's tricky.
Anyways, I got a little carried away - I think that the whole "set" could've been better, even though I actually liked that it was simple. It wasn't bad, but could've been better. And I actually need to give some criticism about when it was time for the boys to leave the stage - it was all like "Thank you and good night" and then they were gone in like, not even two seconds! The audience shouted "WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE" but they didn't come back, and I think that they should've given a more proper good bye to us and not disappear so suddenly.
All the songs were absolutley fantastic and they've made a huge effort to make them this great. The songs I enjoyed mostly during the concert (it was actually more of a gig) was Time To Dance and She's A Handsome Woman.
Time To Dance was played only by Brendon on a acoustic guitar and I think I fell in love with it - the song and everything about it. It was really just a bittersweet moment for me to stand there and listen (sing along, of course). I can't really relate to the lyrics, but the song just means a lot to me - I get nostalgic and just the feeling (and for God's sake, the thrills!!) I get from listening to it is wonderful yet it makes me feel like I'm gonna have a break down. The guitar and Brendon's voice (which he uses in a different way from what he used to, and it sounds great) is just bittersweet for me, I can't describe it any better than that.
She's A Hansome Woman has really tricky lyrics - Brendon sings very short but many "verses" which have different meanings - they don't really have anything to do with each other and still they fit all together. I enjoyed this song very much and I especially like the drums in this song, don't know why, it just floats on. And the guitar, yaha
I am TRULY amazed if you've come this far and read it all - this is just a very few things I can say about the gig and not in the best way I could describe them, but this will have to do. It's just from my point of my view : ) Please leave a comment about what you think, agree and disagree about, maybe you'll make me rethink a little! : )
Cheers! _________________ Music is my religion

I was at this show too. (did you stand in the queue the whole day or something?, 'cause who knows, I might have been playing 'you're it' with ya )
I can understand every single word of your reflection and agree with it. I realized you're right about that part of them leaving too soon. sure if they were tired, but you know what, we were too, and wanted a lot more.
brendon was a thrill to watch, but mostly to hear. he has developed his voice in such a great way, and it's awesome to notice. the same with ryan.
the only thing that sucked with the concert was actually the crowd, or us, the people. I might have been standing on the wrong side (just in front of ryan), and I had serious troubles with breathing. I had to leave the front after a couple of songs to get water, 'cause I was like seconds away from fainting. however, they tried to make us not to push on each other, but it was impossible.
though, when I could focus on the band, it was awesome, but I've learned how to be prepared for the next show. (and spencer told me it would be like in the beginning of the summer, so I'm gonna trust him.) |

Thank's Amdy, really appreciate a reply! I stood in the queue from like 12.00 pm or something but I didn't see anyone play "you're it", pity, cause I was kinda bored for a while lol!
Actually I was standing on Jon's side but not in the crowd really, there was a very small staircase that you could stand on so that you were in the same hight as Panic - I was pleased with my spot except that there were a few times when I almost fell down cause everybody in the back pushed so goddamn hard, and I stood in front of the staircase. But in the crowd that was standing from the front and down to the middle was almost like rocking back and forward, I could see it since I stood a little higher - I saw one girl faint and was carried away by a securityguard, and I think it's just too bad that these things occur. I mean, to miss the opportunity to hear the boys live, it's just a pity. I'm sorry that you had to leave the front too, cause it's really hard to get your spot back if you leave it for like a second, you really have to fight for it!
Yeah, they definitely did a great, great show, but I think you always should give the audience a last good bye, like a good night kiss - never leave us hungry lol
Really, did you meet Spencer? Did he mean that the next show in Sweden will be in the summer? I really hope so cause I wanna see them again - live is the best way to experience music : )
Thank's again! Take care _________________ Music is my religion

always a pleasure
we didn't exactly play 'you're it', but we played 'pepparkakskull' and the footgame . did blondinbello talk to you?
anyhow, about that spencer-thing. after the show, we waited outside the exit-door where it was most likely for them to come out. zack was there and gave us instructions and everything how everything would happen. if it was raining, they would not stop and sign, but it looked like they would.
and suddenly, there they were; I saw like brendon, and then jon came out, then spencer, brendon and ryan. no one was screaming at all. jon walked up to me and my friends and asked what we thought about the show. I was the only one talking. then I told spencer I hoped they would come back soon, and he started to talk about how they would finish the tours in UK and the US and everything and then probably come back, in the beginning of the summer. and I heard ryan talking about something like that too ("next time we'll come outside with hot soup, but it'll probably be hot, so we'll come out with icewater or something").
and I can't stop bragging about the background on my cell phone. I got almost in front of brendon and called his name, not loud at all, and he was like; 'yeah?', and I said; 'could you pose?' and held my phone with a camera in the air, and he smiled and said 'yeah, definitely!' and then did the known brendon-pose, y'know, pouting with his lips and then the peacesign. it's super-awesome! then everyone wanted him to pose, and zack told him he had to go to the bus. |

Hahaha I have never ever heard of pepparkakskull! But it sounds fun
No, I don't think Blondinbello talked to me, who is she/he?
Oh my, for how long did you wait outside for them?
Sounds great I would like to have the chance to like thank them for all that they've done and discuss music! : ) Not that I think they had that much time when you met up lol - glad to hear that no one was screaming - I am the kinda person that cheers, dances(well, as much as I could move, there wasn't that much space in the crowd so I was more like moving and "tapping my toes to the beat" lol) and claps my hands and sings along on a concert. I'm no screamer - although my friend and I shouted "TAKE IT OFF" but not because we seriously wanted Brendon (or Ryan, Jon and Spencer) to actually take his shirt off - it was just a fun thing to do lol. But I wouldn't mind if they did!
The band gives you so much energy and pleasure, by playing for us I mean lol, and I believe that they appreciate when the audience is giving energy back, in ways of like cheering etc - maybe they find it sweet when a someone shouts "I LOVE YOU" but that's just not my kinda thing to do : )
Yaha, I know the Brendon-pose, the lips and freaky expression, but we all love it, right?
I think I saw some girls cry at the concert, and I would understand them if they were crying from the music, like if they were moved by it - but I don't really get it when people cry because of the band? I mean, yeah, they are inspiring and might be someone's heroes, but they are still people! Just normal folks with lots of attention, don't you agree? That's why I don't like it when they are put on a piedestal by fans and are like worshiped. Isn't it just a greater feeling to hear, meet and see the band as equals? _________________ Music is my religion

he was just some random dude who went up and down the line, asking for money so he could buy a ticket. he managed after all. though, he called panic sellouts, so I had a small debate with him about all that. I totally kicked his ass.
we waited about 45-60 minutes or so. it was freezing. I only had a hoddie and it was soaking wet, from the rain and sweat. I told jon we'd been there since ten and he gave me highfive :')
yeah, I so understand. my whole imaginary picture of the concert was that I would be able to actually dance to the music. it was impossible. but I did my best of it, while shoving long hair from my face (I was so annoyed by the girls in front of me .) I do think they really enjoy the way the audience gives response while they're playing, because I think it would be noticable if they didn't. the only thing that really gets on MY nerves are when people are yelling stuff like 'marry me!' or 'you're mine!' I mean, sure if you find them attractive, but it's not like any one of them are gonna lay eyes on ya and then totally fall in love with you. it's just not possible. and then we're into that matter of those guys being our equals, and not Gods on a piedestal.
for instance, when they came out, and everyone was quiet, it hit me; they're pretty normal guys, that you could have a pretty normal conversation with.
sorry if I couldn't get everything clearer, it's sort of a blurry mess in my head. but thank you for having almost the same pictures that I have.
and what a nice little conversation we're having ^^ |

Oh, that guy! He had glasses with black frames, right? Yeah, he asked me about money, and I wanted to give him like 50 kr cause I felt so bad for him, but I only had 500kr bills (the currency value is way different in Sweden, just wanted to tell you who reads this and didn't know). When he passed me by later that evening I shouted "Kommer du någon vart med biljetten?" (Means - "how's it going with the ticket" for you who doesn't know swedish lol, maybe I should stop with the parenthesises ) and he walked up to me and smirked while he flailed with a ticket and I laughed and said like "you sneeky bastard" : )
I think it was pretty funny.
Go Amdy, ffs, Panic aren't sellouts, the guy didn't know what he was talking about.
Yeah, there was like one girl next to me in the crowd that was shouting "JON! JON! OH-MY-GOD JON! JON!" over and over again and eventually I had had it and said "HE CAN'T HEAR YOU DAMNIT!" cause I couldn't concentrate on the music : ) Ok, some fans are younger and you have to have that in mind, but there really is a line for how much you can tolerate, especially if their behaviour affects yourself.
I think I get the picture of how it all happend, not too messy at all!
And I also think that we're having a pleasant conversation, it's nice to share your experiences from something, especially since we were at the same event!
Just being curious - what's your name and age? : ) _________________ Music is my religion |

yep, that's him. I've got the best picture; http://i29.tinypic.com/20ib6lg.jpg I really don't know why I posed with him, it just came (it's me in the middle by the way). but I gave him a piece of my marabou, but he didn't want it since I dropped it in his cup of coins.
nah, he didn't even listen to panic at all. he was just there...
you totally pwned her there. I've decided that the next time I go to a panic-concert I'm either going to;
* get a fucking awesome spot right in front of brendon or jon, by the fence (because I will never return to ryan's side) and stay there, or...
* stay in the back of the room with some friend and just dance to the music, because that's so one of my dreams.
exactly my thought. I haven't really talked to someone outside of the people I met there and went with, so it's nice to get a different point of view from someone you don't know.
my name's amanda (or basically amdy, (or andy but that's another story) because everyone calls me that) and I'm 17, on the to 18. how about you? are you a stockholm-kid? |

Haha, nice pic, and that lollipop looks really tasty! And I would never decline someone who were offering me chocolate
Oh, he didn't even listen to Panic? Talk about being spontaneous : )
Yeah, I'd want that too actually, I just think it's a pity that you can't stand in front of Spencer (wouldn't even be like possible), you see, I'm kinda fascinated by drums - the sound of it, the way you play it, it's just a really cool instrument and I love to see talented (they don't have to be) people having a passion and sharing it with others. I would like to observe Spencer on those drums live and not so far away.
It's a great feeling to be close to the stage, cause it gives your another connection between yourself and the music, I mean, it's like they're playing for only you (don't get me wrong, I love a great crowd). Gosh, I'm really babbling on about the music (well, maybe cause I love it haha).
But since Spencer is not an option to stand in front of I think I'd mostly like to be in front of Brendon - cause then you get a pretty good view of everyone.
The name is Olivia (not that unpredictable if you look at my username haha ) I'm 16 and I live a little bit outside Bålsta so it takes like 80 minutes to get to Stockholm - you have to take the bus and then shuttle. But if I'm gonna associate myself with a city, it's definietly Stockholm, cause when I'm gonna do something, like go shopping, go see a movie, just go out - that's where I go : ) So, I don't live in Stockholm, but that's where I like socialize (?) (if you don't count with my friends and family here)
Are you from Stockholm? : ) _________________ Music is my religion |

I know what you're talking about. I study music at an upper secondary school, and some of the drummers we've got there are just fascinating to watch. one of them, if he haven't got anything to do with his right arm one beat, he like pats his back with the drumstick. hard to describe, but it's wonderful to watch.
and you know what, someday you might be able to actually observe spencer closer when he's playing. they might do something special for just you .
babble all you want, I know where you are going. I mean, why would we be there if we didn't like the music? okay, there are some exceptions.
oh no, no where near stockholm. I live in a town called Skellefteå in the north of Sweden. it happens that people have heard about it. we took the plane down to stockholm and got outselves a house to stay in. we really do feel like aliens when we're walking down drottninggatan, (though some dudes asked us where the nearest 'Stadium' was, as if we were actually living there.) |

Oh, you study music? Sounds great! I've always been interested in music in a deeper way, but it's not really what I've been thinking about studying or working with. I'm thinking about studying journalism - see I also love to write : )
Haha, fricking hilarious! Cool dude.
I'm so jelaous of you, since you can watch musicians play everyday (can you? maybe I'm overestimating it all) Yeah, it would be great to see Spencer play, and you're right, maybe I'll see him one day : ) I can always keep dreaming haha
Yeah, I know where Skellefteå is Wow, well done, for coming down here! I mean, it's not that easy to localize yourself when you're some where new, so good for you and your friend/friends (dunno how many there were) for making such an effort (hope I'm not exaggerating haha)
Which else bands/artists are you listening to? : ) _________________ Music is my religion |

yeah, for the second year. there's a lot of theory, like scales and shit, but when you come to the ensembles, it's just the best. we've got people who are so awesome on what they're doing that it's not even funny. and, our year (-90) is a little extra special, since we are 9 girls and 20 boys or something. and we've also got a group of four guys that sing like barbershop. they're underbelievable. I might put in a youtube-link later.
have you got like a plan worked out considering what you want to do?
wow, that's not bad but... I just realized we've had melodifestivalen and idol here, so... maybe it's not so unknown after all.
I'm Green Day-fan for life. when I see them live, I can finally die with a smile on my face. and also I love a band called joy division, but they might not be that wellknown. old post-punk band from britain. I have a pretty mixed sence of music, since I'm open for pretty much everything from slipknot to jason m'raz.
hwow about y? |

Sounds like a lot of fun! You're born in the same year as my brother and he is really good at music, especially at playing the piano! He can also play a little guitar and bass. It's just that he's such a fool, he's dropped out of two gymnasiums within two years - he's gonna go to an audition for Kulturama in Stockholm in the summer I guess, just hope he wont give this chance up aswell (he's a bit lazy you see, but so am I X) )
I don't really know about that, it's not like a plan, it's more of what I wanna do with my future for now, maybe I'll change my mind later, but it looks something like this:
1. Finish the gymnasium in Sweden and get awsome grades!
2. Study journalism in London, that's where I've found the best colleges for journalism (as far as I know), but I'm not sure of which one I wanna go to yet.
3. Find a job that I can use the skills from my education in. I'd really like to work for a magazine like Vanity Fair or ID - they taken seriously and are respectable. They are also very good with their criticism they give to like bands, they are very constructive. They aren't talking about the bandmembers personal life, they are taking the music seriously, which is very important to me. They are also writing a lot about culture, politics and updates in the world, which I am very interested in
That's really what I want for my future at the moment, how about you?
I don't think Skellefteå is more unknown than like Sundsvall as a matter of fact : ) Not the most common city you talk about but it's still just one of those cities you have to know about : )
I listen to like everything aswell - some of the bands/artists I like are:
-Panic At The Disco (obviously, I've been hooked ever since "I Write Sins...")
-Jamie T
-John Mayer (he's just a pure genius)
-Gym Class Heroes
-Nada Surf
-Lily Allen
-System Of A Down
These are just a few among a huge lot of favourites : )
And even though I don't really listen to oldies that often, I have a lot of respect for like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash and all of those musicians. Cause they are just truly brilliant. _________________ Music is my religion |

those kind of things usually runs in the family. I hope it'll turn out great for him though, that he gets accepted and everything.
I don't know if I can say that I've thought about anything considering my future. ok, I lied, I've thought a lot. I've got many dreams, and hopefully I'll have fulfilled them all by the time I die. I have this huge dream about going to USA and california, but I don't know when it'll ever happen. but the plan that makes the most sence after I've graduated is either try to work and get some money, or go to some music-university. basically I want to make music for a living, y'know the singer/songwriter kind of type. I've figured out that I'm pretty much not very fit for a band, or maybe someday.
but you know what, who knows? I might turn out to be a priest, that's also an option.
oh, I remember the first song I heard and got stuck with panic was 'the only difference...'. two years ago, every morning for three weeks I listened to it while I rode my bike to my summerjobb. I realized they were superawesome :') memories.
you kind of have to have respect for them, just because they've inspired great music we have today.
right, by the way, the guys I talked about earlier; http://youtube.com/watch?v=2zvdk3N24ZE
be patient in the beginning. he couldn't find the tone :'). imagine hearing that every day in the classroom and out in the corridor. heaven. |

Wow, I really hope all your plans and dreams will come true! I think it sounds great, I hope that you'll be successful with your work : )
Yeah, I was kinda stuck with "the only difference..." for a while aswell - but my absolute favourite songs on A Fever You Can't Sweat Out are "Time To Dance", "Build God Then We'll Talk", "There's A Good Reason..." and "I Constantly Thank God For Esteban". I love all the songs but these are my favourites.
I've only heard "We're So Starving", "Nine In The Afternoon", "That Green Gentleman", "She's A Handsome Woman" and "Mad As Rabbits" from Pretty. Odd. and the ones I like the best from those songs are actually "She's A Handsome Woman" and "Mad As Rabbits", even though they're all terrific
Wow, those guys are really talented! I actually wrote a comment for the video I'm so jelaous, the only thing I hear when I'm in school are noice and lots of shouting in the corridors x')
Sorry for the late reply by the way : ) _________________ Music is my religion |
