Alright. I got me a copy of Pretty. Odd. last night and have been listening to it nearly non-stop all day and night. I love the new style. At first I was skeptical to them changing the sound, but I think it really works well.
Me and my friend were listening to it today and made a whole bunch of connections to other artists. I was wondering if anyone else found that the songs were similar to others as well?

I'll give an example:

Intro sound familiar?

Other references are to the Beatles, Sinatra, and some early 60s-late 50s jazz. Can you find any more?

There's a lot of songs that remind me of The Beatles and I haven't listened to the whole album yet.

Very similar song structure.

Never caught that before.

I hope people dont make a big deal out of this, like with the whole Hotel California/We Use to Know thing.

"Folkin' around" Always remimds me of "What am I doing hangin' 'round" by the monkees for some reason. Maybe I'm just strange, but it does.
Personally I couldn't care less if part of their songs sound like someone elses as long as it's not a blatant rip off they try and pass off as their own...but I wouldn't see them as being happy to do that in the first place y'know?

Edited coz Im an idiot... Rolling Eyes

The intro to When the Day Met the Night reminds me of a McFly song Laughing
