“Fine…” I sighed, changing the channel from the infomercial I was watching to mtv.

“LAUREN!” I shrieked with fury.
“I know, I know! I’m sorry! I think you should at least listen to what he’s going to say, though.” She said.
“LAUREN! You know how much I hate teasing myself with something, or someone, I can’t have!”
“Hun, you can have him. All you have to do is pick up the phone. Or answer your phone.”

“Ugh…”

BEEEEEP.

“Laur, hang on I have a call on the other line.”

I checked the caller ID. No name; just a phone number. 216 538 0368.

“Hello?” I answered.
“Hello! This is Suchin Pak from Total Request Live! Is this Lily Springs?” I turned my attention to the television, horrified.

There Ryan was, pacing anxiously, waiting for my reply. I was on speaker. Every kid in America was watching now.

“Uh…?” Was all that I was able to choke out.
“We have someone here who wants to talk to you!” Suchin said.
“Meh?” I asked again. This had to be unreal.

“Hello?” An excited voice said.
“Bren?” I asked, relieved.
“Hey Peanut!”
“Banana! I haven’t talked to you in a while!!” I screamed excitedly.
“Yeah. Ryan’s been a mess. I’m sure you’ve read in all the tabloids what’s happened. All the alcohol and the ambulances. You know… He wants to talk to you!”
“Bren…”
“You can’t say no on live television!”
“But…”
“Here’s Ry!"

“Hello?” Ryan asked very nervously into the phone.

I was watching him on the television. He was still pacing nervously, and he was trying not to bite his nails. He always did that when he was extremely nervous.

“OH MY GOD! MY HOUSE IS ON FIRE! GOTTA GO BYE!!!!” I screamed and hung up.

“Hello?” Lauren asked as I switched lines.
“I.Hate.You!”
“Come on, he’s trying!!”
“It’s not his fault I left! It’s my own fault! I’m avoiding him to save him from all the pain I cause!” I defended.
“Sweetie, look at what he’s doing to himself. He’s slowly decomposing, yet he’s getting a beer gut. He’s so fucked up. You honestly think he’ll be worse off with you in his life? He’s only this way because you left.”

“Not helping!”
“Neither are you. Look at him. I know you can’t stand to see him this way!”
“You’re right. But Lauren, you weren’t there after I kissed Will. You didn’t see the look on his face…”
“Hun, we all make stupid choices sometimes…”
“Yeah, not like that. God! I’m such a bad person! I don’t deserve to fucking breathe!”
“Ryan thinks you do… You shouldn’t be kicking yourself. It’s been a YEAR. You’ve seen Panic! reach the height of their fame, and you’re seeing Ryan beginning to become another Sid Vicious. Do you want this?”
“NO!”
“Then pick up the phone!”
“NO!”
“Why?!”
“Because I don’t want to hurt him again!”

Even though you swore that you were true, I’d still pick my friends over you…

I shot up out of bed, cold and sweating, screaming “I don’t want to hurt him again! I don’t want to hurt him again!”

Oh, it was all just a deam. No, a nightmare.

This isn’t the first Ryan nightmare I’ve had.

Then it hit me; I wasn’t in my own bed.
I looked over to my left, where a boy lied, his shirt off and his small frame showing.

Then I realized, I didn't have clothes on.

Lily, what have you done?
