Could the line "everything I promised everyone I'd be well I just ain't" be referring to how before Pretty Odd came out the band was saying that they'd be changing their style? And now Brendon isn't into it anymore?
Also, I think it's fair to say that the ! is back. Yay!

it could be that, but i thought it was just brendon's (or whoever wrote the lyrics) general feeling that he's not living up to people's expectations, or the image he's set for himself.
