taddaaaaa;
______________________________________________________________________________

Summer was knocking on their front door and the teachers were actually starting to loosen up a little bit at school, with homework and such. Sadly, all of them seemed to gang up on Brendon, just because he seemed to be failing at everything. All of his spare time he spent in the studio or the band's rehearsal space, and he was lucky if he got some sleep at night at all. It had gotten so far that Gwen had been forced to do his assignments for him at times, though she wasn't very keen about it. But on the other hand, the last thing she would want to see was him not graduating from high school; it would crush his dreams.

He hadn't shown up for school that day either, but he had actually warned her about it this time. They had to take time to record one of the songs, and it had to be done that day if they wanted to finish the record someday soon. Gwen understood the whole picture, and didn’t spend much time mourning for that. She was focused on something else.

Sammy and Jolene had spent some nice weeks together. Sure, they had had their ups and downs, but which couple hadn’t had that? They just needed a little bit of time to figure out where they had each other, but when they where in the moment there were nothing that couldn’t tell their love for each other. Jolene was Sammy’s cigarette, chocolate cake, her everything, as Sammy described it herself in a song she wrote for the anniversary of two months together.

When Gwen got off for lunch she met an excited Jolene in the corridor. She was literally jumping on her spot.

“What’s up with you?”

“I’ve got something for SamSam, and I’m dying to give it to her, but I’m gonna maintain control over myself. She knows she’s going to get something, but she has no clue what it is. I’m gonna make her sweat a little.”

“Oh, you’re the evil in disguise. Lemme’ see what you have for her then.” Jolene looked sneaky and took out a big square-shaped bag from behind a locker and pulled out a painting in black, grey and white shades. It was two pairs of legs facing each other, one pair had black converse and the others had pink ones. It looked like a girl was standing on her toes to kiss a boy. It looked so pretty. Beneath there was a text that said; ‘Let me light up the sky, light it up for you’. “She’s gonna be thrilled! Where’s the quote from?”

“It’s from a song*. I actually wanted to get something from Good Charlotte just because she loves them so much, but I couldn’t find a suitable line.”

“I think this’ll do fine. I’m gonna meet her soon to talk about next month.”

“Your small awesome trip to California, b**ch?” Gwen’s jaw dropped.

“That was so not necessary!”

“But it is about your trip, right?” Gwen just nodded and turned around to see Sammy walk toward them. She kissed Gwen on the cheek first and then went over to Jolene who held the painting behind her back.

“Hey babe,” she whispered, “what was your surprise?”

“You’ll get it soon enough.” Sammy had not yet discovered the package Jolene held behind her back, which was kind of weird. Sammy pouted her mouth and gave her girlfriend she knew she couldn’t resist. She playfully kissed her lips and giggled, very, very girly. Jolene stood her ground for a few minutes, but then gave in after Sammy had whispered numerous of dirty words in her ear.

“Alright, alright, here you go.” Sammy removed the bag which protected the painting and gasped for air when she saw the surface.

“That’s so pretty! Thank you, baby,” she said and twirled Jolene into a hug. Jolene just looked happy for making Sammy happy, because that was all she needed. Gwen just stood by, observing the two, sucking in all of the romantic vibes everywhere.

“She saw the picture?” someone suddenly said beside Gwen, making her jump a little.

“Oh, Everlyn,” she said, maybe a little bit overenthusiastic, “I haven’t seen you for weeks!”

“Correction; you haven’t seen me for a week, but that was because I was sick.”

“I missed your charming British accent, love.”

“I missed your hugs.” Gwen embraced short Everlyn with her arms and held her for a few seconds. When she peeked at Sammy and Jolene, they still hadn’t stopped with the snuggling.

“And yes, she saw it.”

“Bloody awesome, now they won’t let go of each other for another week.”

“How are things going with you and Zachary?”

“Actually pretty steady, but since I’ve been as close to deadly sick you can be, I haven’t seen him for a while. But we’re going out tomorrow, and it is going to be so nice.”

“That sounds gre-.” She was cut of by Sammy.

“Gwenny, we’ve got to get serious about business!” she shrieked and pulled Gwen’s body against hers.

“I hear you, I hear you, but I’ve only got like half an hour.”

“We’ll get much done in half an hour!” They left Jolene with Everlyn and went to find a free table at the cafeteria to sit down to look things over.

“Have you talked to your mother?” Gwen started off.

“More or less, she’s not supportive because she says I haven’t got the money for it, but she’s just pessimistic. If this is something I want, then I’m gonna get it.”

“You know that we’re gonna bail out on everything the day before, right?”

“That have crossed my thought a series of times, but I just wanna ignore it. We’re gonna get out of here. You managed to get a hold on tickets to the concert?”

“What do you take me for? Of course I did, they’re in my top drawer at home.”

“I sure hope you’re telling the truth. I telling you, something has to go wrong soon.”

“It’s starting to scare me too. However, I have the car, and mom knows she won’t get it back for at least a few weeks, and I’m working on getting in the right amount of money, so it’ll last back and forth.”

“But what if we’ll stay there forever?”

“Sam, we won’t be staying there forever.”

“I know, but what if it became an option, would you bail on that?”

“I can’t say. But you know what, I’ve got to head back to class, and after school I’m gonna meet up with my bear. He had something to tell me.” Sammy was about to give her an answer, but it wouldn’t come out. She made another effort;

“Woah, that can’t be good.”

“What makes you say that?”

“I’m just saying it won’t be good.”

“Thanks, you’re definitely helping my nerves.”

“I’m just preparing you for the worst. But go back to class, so I can go and kiss my little Jo.”

”Are you gonna keep me waiting for long?” Gwen said as she tilted her head to one side to watch Brendon study the many different offerings of coffee, tea and soda.

“Keep you waiting for what? You can order if you want to.” His eyes wouldn’t leave the paper.

“You said you were going to tell me something when we got here, remember?”

“Oh, yeah, right, I’m getting there.”

“I’m sure you are. Have you decided what you want?”

“Just get me a soda, wait, here’s the mon-.” She raised her hand to stop him from giving her the coins.

“Don’t bother.” She went over to the desk, knowing how confused he looked like after she had ditched his money like that.

“Hi Gwen, what can I get you?” the woman behind the desk asked. She was pretty petite, but she had a face that could make anyone ask themselves why she was working in a café like this and not for a model agency.

“Brendon wanted a soda, and I think I’m in the mood for a cup of tea.” He woman tilted her head, just like Gwen had done before.

“Are we feeling serious today?”

“You have no idea, I think I’m about to get a slap in the face any minute now.”

“You’ll have the tea in that minute.”

“Thanks Liza, here’s the money. Brendon thinks I’m pissed at him because I wouldn’t let him pay for himself.” Liza laughed and took Gwen’s bill and gave her the change back. When Gwen sat down opposite Brendon again he still looked confused.

“Have I done something wrong?” he asked. He had that look upon his face that made it difficult to tell if he was about to cry or not.

“You tell me, have you?”

“I don’t think it’s classified as ‘wrong’.”

“Will you just spit it out?”

“Alright, I’ve-.” He got interrupted by Liza putting down their orders on the table, which made him lose his focus for a second. “What I was about to tell you was… I’ve met someone.”

She was about to take the first sip of the tea but immediately stopped and stared at him for a few seconds. Her expression quickly turned into a smile.

“Woah, for real? Are you serious?”

“Man, I thought you were gonna be angry or something, at least upset.”

“Why would I be upset when I can be happy for your sake?”

“I guess you’re right, I don’t know why I thought that.”

“Who’s the lucky gal?”

“I don’t know about the lucky-part, but she’s just this girl I’ve been seeing now and then, but I don’t think you know her, even if I tried to explain it to you.”

“Tell me her name at least?”

“Brittany. I don’t know, it just feels like this could go somewhere, y’know what I’m saying?”

“Oh yeah, I most definitely do. But Brendon, I am happy for you, and don’t think anything else, alright?”

“Thanks, it would’ve felt so weird I didn’t have your blessing, y’know.”

“Why is it so important?”

“Because you’re like my other half, duh, what else?”

“Who knows, this girl might become your new other half in no time at all.” Brendon laughed at her words that might have included some kind of threat. He shook his head in disbelief. She excused herself to go to the bathroom really quick. She locked the door after her and leaned her bodyweight at the washbowl, checking if she could breathe or not.

“This ain’t happening. No, correction; you knew this would happen some time or another, and you also knew that there was no way for you to stop it.”

Yes, it was weird talking to her in the mirror, but who haven’t done that one time or another in their lives?

The truth was that she really was truly happy for her boy’s sake, because if she knew that that girl was bad for him, he would’ve known about it. But sadly, as he words had left his mouth, she was crushed inside by some small devil that knew how it would hit her the most. She only saw one way out of this way she was feeling. She dialed a number on her cell phone that she had memorized and begged that the person would pick up quickly.

“Betty, I think I’m in need of that ice cream as it looks like right now.”

y have no idea. I've been really creative this weekend as a matter of fact, so here's another chapter you can feel good about;
______________________________________________________________________

It was the day of Jeremy’s return. He’d been away for only a week, for a trip to a monastery in France, but it had driven Betty nuts every day. Every time there had been a discussion in her class, everyone had seemed to gang up on her, and she was seriously thinking about going through half of a Columbine, on half of her class. Luckily for her, school without Jeremy only lasted for three days and the rest of the week she could spent at her grandmother’s place, away from her classmates.

Gwen had no lessons that day, since some of the teachers were at a course, another gave them the lesson off, and she convinced her teacher in photography that she was going to do some homework. She had driven to Betty’s school and now joined her friend in the cafeteria to wait for Jeremy to walk through those doors.

“You think he’ll be upset if we ask him about those German twins?”

“Hell yeah, but that doesn’t matter. I’m gonna give him shit for leaving me alone with them.” She was of course talking about her classmates. Gwen laughed and took a sip of her milkshake, looking around in the room. It was lunchtime, which meant that you were lucky if you managed to find yourself a table. The minutes approached the hour of twelve and Betty seemed to loosen up each of those minutes.

They both had their eyes on the entrance, gazing for the well-known bangs that would soon be visible.

“Y’know what, I bet he’s standing out there, knowing how tough it is for us, just by waiting,” Gwen said and laughed, seeing a picture of a very giggly and playful Jeremy in front of her.

“It has crossed my mind a few times, but no, he won’t.”

Just when Betty said that, a guy sat down beside Gwen, but none of them had any time to react about who it was, until Betty shrieked and jumped up off her chair in joy.

“Jeremy! You little fucking bastard.” She ran around the table to literally jump onto a very surprised Jeremy. He looked the same as he had done before he left, just a little more foreign, with a little bit of a tan, though they had heard about the bad weather in France.

“Woah, I didn’t think I would get this kind of welcoming. It’s only been a week,” he said, laughing at Betty’s reaction.

“Dude, it’s been one week of hell, you have no idea.”

“She’s got a point, hi darling,” Gwen said and gave Jeremy a hug from the side. “How was France?”

“It was toight, man, you have no idea.”

“I disagree, I know, because I’ve been there,” Betty filled in from her place opposite them. “Like last year?”

“Yes, except shitty weather. Did I miss something while I was gone?”

“Just a little free p**n, live in our classroom a few times, and yeah, Brendon got himself a gf.”

“A gf? That just sounds like something retarded.”

“A gf, Jeremy, short for girlfriend.” Jeremy actually looked kind of surprised by Betty’s statement and got Gwen’s attention.

“I’m sorry.”

“Hey, what’s up with you thinking that it’s the end of the world for me?” Gwen said and stared at him.

“I don’t know, maybe I thought there was something going on between you too.”

“Like everyone else thought. Jesus, did we really look like that?” Betty cleared her throat and scratched her head, ready to give her comment.

“If I know you two right, sweetheart, you will look like lovers for the rest of your lives.”

"Tell me the truth," Jeremy said and took Gwen's hand in his, "are you okay with it?"

"I don't really know. I mean, I'm happy about the fact that he's happy, and that things are going great for them right now, but at the same time it feels like I lost a small part of me in the process, You know?"

Jeremy didn't say anythinf in response, but pulled her head to his chest, like a mother would do to her child, and patted her head comfortably. Gwen rolled her eyes and decided that there had been enough talk about that.

“So, Jerry-boy, you had some interesting meeting with, say, German girls? Twins maybe, perhaps?”

“Shut up.”

“Oh, come on, give us some information now, did you meet them at least?”

“If you have to know, no, they weren’t there this year, so your mama.” Betty looked pissed at his response but Gwen just laughed. She’d missed his cheekiness, and knew that Betty could say exactly the same.

and the real jeremy is actually coming home tomorrow from tha monastery in France. this is some kind of picture of how our meeting may look like. god, I miss him >.<

puuh, it took some time, and it's not spell-checked, but who cares;
_________________________________________________________________________________

"I'm just so scared," Gwen said and stared out through the window, while the rain was pouring down heavily from the sky. She had her favourite place in the whole house, where only she would sit, and sometimes she had a cat in her lap as company, but her cat was too moody this evening to stay with her. Betty was sitting in a comfy chair beside the window, resting her legs on the steady windowsill on which Gwen sat comfortably on a few pillows.

"Ne boisya*," Betty calmy said in response and turned the page of the bok she was reading.

"Russian shit," Gwen muttered and tilted her head toward the cold surface of the window.

"The Russian language is not shit in any way, it is very beautiful, and I am very positive that I will be thankful in the future that I learned it during high school. I know that Jeremy would concur."

"That's just because he's learning it to get Lena Katina** in bed." Betty spat out half of the coca cola she was just on her way of swallowing, and held her hand in front of her mouth not to laugh.

"God, what happened to the innocent you, girl?"

"But you can't deny that it's not true, come on," Gwen said. Betty raised her coke in the air to concur.

"Now, to get back to what we were talking about, what are you scared about?"

"Everything. We leave high school in just a few days, and what, are we supposed to do something with our lives after that? I haven't got a clue what I wanna become when I grow up."

"Honey, you're basically grown up right now, and it's not a demand that you have to decide what you want to do the ret of your life at this moment. Just take everything as it comes." Gwen smiled at her friend's words. Everything that came out of Betty's mouth always sounded so mature to her. Gwen leaned forward, literally hugging her her own knees.

"What do you wanna be when you grow up?" Betty gazed up on the ceiling to ponder about Gwen's question.

"Probably some kind of shrink, I think that would suit me."

"A shrink for broken marrigaes or serial-killers?"

"Serial-killers."

"I imagined."

"By the way, we really need to talk about that other night?"

"I'm not followin-."

"Oh, come one. The night you called me, screamed in the telephone that I had to turn on the TV rightaway."

"It was Manics!"

"I know that, you screamed it in my ear, and I crawled through the whole room to get to the remote control, though I was too slow, but we have to talk about what you interrupoted," Betty said and raised her eyebrow, while Gwen's face turned to quite shocked. Betty nodded calmly. "Let's just say that Jacoby was kind of pissed at me for ditching him like that."

"But you weren't in the middle of it?"

"No, not really, but pertty damn close."

"Oh my, but was it worth it?"

"We're talking about Manics, of course it was worth i-." The door bell broke her off in the sentence. She crossed her arms over her chest and nodded her head toward the door for Gwen to open it. The rain was still poring outside. Gwen sighed and wished that didn't have to open the door, but none other than herself was home. She grabbed a big scarf and twirled it around her shoulders She went over to open the door and was surprised to find a wet Brendon standing out there in the rain. Their house didn't have a small roof above their front door, sadly.

"God, Brendon, get in here," she said, almost ready to pull him inside the house, though he wouldn't move.from his spot.

"Just grab an umbrella and come outside," he said, sounding really mysterious. She raised her eyebrow, but did what he said, waving quickly to Betty, who looked even more like a question-mark.When she got herself under the umbrella she couldn't understand why he wouldn't stand there under with her.

"You wanna get a cold before you go to Maryland to record the rest of the album?"

"Nah, I just like it this way," he said and snatched his shoulders. Gwen wasn't stupid, she could see that he was thinking about something he didn't really want to tell her, but he would have to in the end. He was seriously shaking and shivering from the cold.

"Either you tell me soemthing I don't know, or you come inside with me and join me and Betty's conversation about growing up."

"Maybe it's not such a big surprise that I wanted to spend one of the last nights with my best friend."

"It has to be more than that, come on, Urie." His eyes were shifting as if he wasn't sure what to do next. Carefully he leaned forward, and as if the time went in slow motion, his lips touched hers. It was just one of those innocent kisses, but meant everything in the world. He left his forehead leaning against hers for a while, just to think. When he had tilted his head back again, and opened his eyes, he realized she was still closing hers. After a few seconds she looked at him, and bit her own lip, not sure what to say.

"I know what you're thinking, Gee."

"You do? Awesome."

"It wouldn't work, right?"

"You really did. Were you thinking the same?" He nodded. She giggled at his soaking hair, because now he really did look like a lost puppet with his big dark brown eyes. If he was thinking the same way she was, they knew where they had each other, and they both were happy about that. She took his hand, kissed it and put it toward her cheek.

"That's the best you can do? I kissed you for f**k's sake."

"I know, and it was very brave of you, my little Brenny-bear." He laughed at the dorky nickname she gave him and embraced her in a cold hug. Yes, he was as soaking wet as his hair, but no, it didn't matter a bit. "You know how to take this; I love you."

"My God, I've never been more thankful for getting to know you during Junior year than now. I love you too. That's something I should be able to tell you, right?" She nodded and patted his back.

"The thing is now that if we walk inside, we will find Betty with a big bowl of popcorn in her lap and a coke in her hand, and she might have cried a little." She took his hand gently and opened the door to step inside the warm and welcoming house. Both she and Brendon turned toward Betty, still holding hands, Brendon's feet shyly pointing toward each other. Bettty was gasping for air, holding her hands in front of her.

"That was... so beatiful. I would've stopped time to make a painting out of that moment."

It was a weird sight, to be honest. George had left his room only two times that evening and each time he had been faced with an overenthusiastic Sammy, and there was no way in hell he could slip past her, even though his slim body. Sure, Gwen was happy about getting out of school for maybe the rest of her life, but didn't show it near the same way Sammy did. Gwen kept telling her friend that it was days since school ended, but the bouncy girl wouldn't give it a rest.

"I'm free, we're free, and we can do whatever we want!" Sammy said, holding a firm grip around George's arm.

“You said that last time I went out to get soda!" George shrieked, starting to really freak out, telling himself that it wasn't right to hit girls. "Gwen, did you give your friend something when she came here?"

Gwen, who lay on the sofa, unwilling to do anything else than reading the new Kerrang, sat up half-ways and gazed toward the weird sight.

"Maybe your soda, but otherwise she's been like this since last Friday."

"But Junior year isn't such a big deal to finish, right?"

"Looks like that to her."

"Don't you get it? No more homework," Sammy cried, slipping more and more down on the floor, almost bringing George down with her. He finally managed to get his arm out of her grip. Sammy had always almost been too shy even to touch George the slightest, so it was understandable that everything came as a shock for him.

“I can’t stay here anymore,” he said hysterically, afraid that Sammy might jump onto him again. Quickly he slipped into his room and closed the door behind him. Gwen could’ve sworn that she heard the door click, so no one would be able to get in to him if he didn’t want them to be there. Sammy looked disappointed and sat down beside Gwen on the sofa, arms crossed over her chest.

“Well, he was cranky,” she muttered, feeling that her mood was slowly drifting away from her. Gwen sat up half-ways again and stared at her.

“I think he’s met someone…”

“That’s nice.”

“It’s my brother we’re talking about. The only romantic relationship he’s ever been involved in has been with his computer, and if he, by luck, has had his eyes on a girl, he’s always turned up disappointed in the end.”

“But what makes you think that he’s met someone?”

“It was just a couple of days ago; I came home with no bad intentions at all, and saw his cell phone lying on the table. I checked it, and it was completely with innocent intentions, and I was really surprised that he had a blonde girl on his background.” Sammy’s eyes grew bigger and bigger while Gwen was telling the story. At one point, Gwen almost thought that she was on her way of crying.

“You think he has a girlfriend?”

“I asked him about her, and he just muttered something that was inaudible.”

“But he didn’t give you a name?”

“Oh yeah, he did, or I had to drag it out of him.”

“So what was it?”

“Juliet.”

“Oh my God, it’s like Romeo and Juliet, other than the fact that George isn’t named Romeo, and I hope your families doesn’t hate each other. And I hope they won’t commit suicide in the end.” Gwen laughed out loud when Sammy did her best to illustrate her vision of George and Juliet’s relationship with her hands other than with words.

“But how come all the emotional feelings before?”

“Y’know how I am this week, and George is just a small boy, and he’s becoming a man. You haven’t been hyper about this yet?”

“You have no idea; I bounced like hell that whole evening and was almost on my way of killing him because that he wouldn’t show me more pictures of her.”

Sammy suddenly grasped Gwen’s wrist and looked her deep into the eyes, thinking about her forthcoming sentence.

“We take off in two days,” she said, pressing her lips together in a stressful look. Gwen just smiled with all of her face.

“I know, and it’s awesome! Just relax, we’ve everything set, we’ve packed it all and already put it in the car. They only thing left is the food, and we’ll get all we need of that in the morning.” Sammy looked a little bit relaxed after Gwen’s reassuring words.

“By the way, when does Brendon leave?”

“You mean for Maryland? Tomorrow afternoon. He’s gonna stop by a couple of minutes, just to say good bye. I hope we won’t be at the mall then.”

“You haven’t talked any more about that evening?”

“When we kissed? No, but I’m pretty sure that we both know how things are between us.”

“God, why wasn’t I there to see it. I could’ve taken a picture or something.”

“Betty took a picture, but it was of Brendon here in the house. There wasn’t a dry spot on him, and it made him look pretty pathetic.” Sammy crossed her arms again.

“Whatever. We’re gonna find you a good lad out on our adventures, I assure you that.”

“Whatever.”

In a matter of days, they would set out on the road trip of their lives.
