You guys are gonna like this band.
Imagine panic's new stuff, but with more of a variety of elements, all done in a theatrical manner.

They have a new vinyl being released, with "diggin" on it, which can be listened to on their myspace profile. _________________ myspace.com/hot_daddy_pants |

Directly from my myspace blog:
I'm full of happiness.
Few albums have struck me with awe with their musical ingenuity and just overall creative brilliance.
A recent one by the name of Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground (self-titled) has done the same, and blessed me with the magical wonder that is pyschedelic pop.
Two talented musicians from Gatsby's American Dream came together, and formed this side project:
It could be said that the album is very similar to Panic at the Disco's new style, but I believe Kay Kay takes the revival of 60s/70s music, and brings it to a whole new level. There's a variety of elements that go into each track, with genres ranging from reggae to blues rock, from acoustic guitar sections into full-on orchestra... all of it done in a theatrical manner. Each track is unique and somehow finds a way to grasp the listener, invoking multiple feelings of excitement and joy with their epic yet blissful qualities. There's no real structure to songs like you would usually find with the radio pop formula (ie verses, chorus, verses, chorus, solo/filler, chorus), so it's not hard to get lost in the music. This may turn off some listeners, but I find it quite fun to never know where each track will take you next.
Lyrically speaking, the album is the perspective a man named Kay Kay, and it appears that he's not entirely right in the head. Thus, many lines are often non-sensical, and can be out-right silly, but thats not to say that some lyrics don't have their share of wit and cleverness. But with so many hooks and catchy choruses, you'll find yourself singing along, even if you don't fully understand what Kay Kay is talking about.
All in all, this album has changed my life. And I hope it does the same for you, given that you actually go and listen to it, instead of like corey, who brushed it off as a mere Hives/Strokes/Blur rip-off.
I apologize if this review feels short and unsatisfying. It's my first attempt at album analysis, so cut me some slack.
Final Rating:
8.9/10
