Drinking at an all ages concert? Onstage? There were 10 year olds behind me- that's the problem.
He doesn't seem to realize how influential he can be, as someone famous, on younger people. He can save the drinking for the after party. I don't really care if he drinks, but he shouldn't do it at a show onstage. I don't care what goes on backstage, but onstage, that is just irresponsible. People look up to him, what kind of example was that? It would be different if it wasn't an all ages show, but all ages means there isn't any serving of alcohol. The rest weren't drinking, why was he? Was there even reason to? If you're thirsty, you should drink water. I just didn't understand why he was.
I just believe he should have saved it for an after party or something. Not onstage.

if anyone looks up to him, then they have a problem to begin with. he never asked to be an example for anyone. he's not worse than anyone else in the scene.

I'm not a chance, but a heat wave in your pants
Pull a breath like another cigarette,
Pawn Shop, I'm trading up (trading up)

I'm the oracle in my chest,
Let the guitar scream like a fascist,
Sweat it out, shut your mouth,
Free love on the streets, but
In the alley and I ain't that cheap, now

It's just that it was an all ages show. It was either the venue or the bands that made that rule and either way they should have followed it. I'm not saying Jon is a bad person- he's nice and was really great to the crowd and everything- it's just irresponsible when there are younger people in the audience. No matter what, young people get influenced.

they're barely adults themselves anyway

he probably thought nothing of it too
because he has a weird liver and can drink all he wants without getting drunk. and you never know
it could have been coke in those beer bottles.... lol jks

Did I miss photos of this or somethin?
I don't know why, but I was actually slightly dissappointed (sp?) reading that...at an all ages gig? I agree, silly thing to do-though anyone old enough to know what he was drinking should be taught (in my opinion) what alcohol does to you and all that stuff, whether they choose to listen or not is up to them. Those young enough not to know shouldve been with an adult and wouldn't have known or cared most likely.

But, I do have to disagree a little with a couple of things, no disrespect or offence intended. Jon is just under a year younger than me and I can say he's definitely old enough to know kids/teens look up to them or see what they do and can be influenced by it.
Same goes for the rest of them.

they may be young in terms of life expectancy but they've hardly lived a sheltered life.
He knew what he was doing drinking onstage...hopefully he just wasn't thinking and will be a bit smarter about it next time-maybe drink it from a tea cup lol

lol a tea cup? That would be funny.
And there weren't photos of it that I took, I wasn't close enough to take one. But I saw it when I was there.

Ah, I wasn't disbelieving you or anything I just thought I'd missed one from the way you brought it up-then I read your review.
but yeah, I 'love' Jon-or better phrased-he's my favourite, but I agree, he should've been smarter about that really I think. Goes in the same vein as Brendon saying/implying he smokes drugs in interviews-not too smart to say (or do anyway) I mean, they KNOW they have young fans.

But at least he wasn't (I hope) waving it around to the crowd a-la "hey look kids, you paid to see me get off my face, drinking's cool."

until we all just get old and die
now talking's just a waste of breath
and living's just a waste of death
and why put a new address
on the same old loneliness
and this is you and me
and me and you
until we've got nothing left
